Talking Tax man didn't know how to classify me!!

LMAO!!! So had my taxes done yesterday and there is no ''Scrapper'' or ''Peddler'' classification to list me as so I went into the bottom rung of ''Misc'' ROF!!!

I am no longer Scrapper Cindy, please now refer to me by ''Misc #9999999''

    Wahahahahaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a ''Misc'' you have to answer the question in the box of how you are supporting your claims. At this my jaw fell to the floor as I lifted up the 9 inches of paperwork on my lap and cried ''RECEIPTS AND PRINTOUTS!!'' Did he really just ask me that??? I suppose he knew the answer but had to hear it come from my own mouth

*Side Note* I was surprised at how much extra the forms for me doing this added to the tax bill  Good thing Sunday's haul covered that lol.

Technically you are just a small business I would suggest you register with the state of ohio and get a ien number that might simplify your taxes next year. Just a fyi. It usually costs me over a 1000 a year to do payroll and taxes so just know what you are getting yourself into.

Well, if I were to get audited because I was classified wrong I have everything to back me up from Income to Outgo. So while its nerve wracking to wonder if I might since I'm just starting out, I feel confident in the fact I reported the income and I can back it up. I asked him if any other ppl had ever claimed scrapping and he said not any of his clients so you know there are folks out there that are dishonest.

Maybe this should be a lesson for all Tax preparation companies AND the IRS to come up with either better classifications for scrappers to save headaches all around. Because it doesn't fall under the ''Hobby'' category either. If they want to pick on me because I did report it I'm not worried, I'll roll my eyes and think to myself ''Seriously??'' the whole time while smiling and handing over receipts.

I will ask my H&R Block lady tomorrow. I can't remember now what it is called. However, she does a hell of a job. 3 years in a row, good returns, and 0 issues!
