    Info about Texas TDLR

Since 2010 it has been state law to have a state license to recycle used auto parts. Well we have one at the salvage yard in Dallas. But I have found out that since I started doing this kind of business. That if you don't take cars apart in the process of selling used auto parts you don't have to have a license in Texas. It reads under Insurance line Item 5. Reads as follows. My company sells used automotive parts but doesn't dismantle vehicles. Are we required to have an Automotive Parts recycling Business License? Answer ( NO ) Furthermore only if your tax ID # contains the SIC Code 5015. Plus the NAICS Codes. 423140,425110,425120 or 441310.

I just thought this would be good information to know if you are buying and selling auto cores in Texas.

How can you sell a used part unless you "dismantle" it from the car? Do the parts just fall by by themselves?
Do core buyers sell some of the cores as used?

All the parts I buy and sell are exchanges from yards, garages or mom and pop auto parts stores. We never touch cars. Since China has been manufacturing new parts they down take exchanges. This has left an market for core buyers. China ships a universal AC Compressor to the US it last about 18 months before it starts coming apart inside. Then the shavings end up in your condenser. Stopping it up. Then guess what comes next. The only motors we buy are aluminum ones. They are stripped before we get them. Because the seller knows we pay for each piece. We never purchase whole autos with the core business. Happy to answer any questions you may have.
