    Mobile Plastic Shredder

Most plastics recyclers want 10-15 tons or more in a shipment, so scrappers, especially e-waste scrappers have to:

-skip items with lots of plastic

-pay to take plastic to the dump

-use time and gas to turn in plastic somewhere that will take them for free

-be very bad and mix plastic with shred/tin

Maybe someone could build a mobile shred/bale truck and either pay a few cents lb or just pick up for free. more ewaste will be picked up and recycled because scrappers wont have to spend gas to get rid of the plastics.

This is a big hint hint to people in the cny area lol

Depends from month to month. I have no idea of the weight. I live in a multi-dwelling house so there's plenty of recycling bins. The guy doesn't even look, just dumps it in his truck.

Unfortunately this would be cost prohibitive.

One buyer told me 35,000lb baled picked up in my area is worth just under $6,000 at current prices.

Could this be profitable if the right amounts could be acquired with min weights per stop?

No. It just isnt economical. First, I would never have anyone bale on site at our location. Second we have a baler. Third anyone generating that kind of volume already has the ability to store or bale it.

Lastly, shredding the material and mixing the colors will devalue the material. It is worth less SHREDDED than baled.

How about one of these that's been taken out of service, if it can chip a tree then some plastic should be no problem.

Loose material is always going to be less then baled material. Its just the way scrap works. The denser the material the more its worth. Look at it like this 10,000 lbs of shredd is a decent size pile. One 10,000 lb bale of baled scrap steel would be half the size or less. Density is always king in the scrap industry.
