Good afternoon everyone...hope all is well. I finally finished cutting the transformers I started on 4 months ago. It hasn't taken that long, I just got sidetracked with my job and have been working on them a little bit at a time. I ended up with 166 pounds of #2 copper.

The garage is still filling up(not complaining) as fast as I can empty it so that's good. Also, I found an old 3 legged skillet with the top included at my sons house. It belonged to my grandmother and possibly my great grandmother. They used to go camping a lot when my mom was little and they cooked with it on the campfire. The bottom is still black with soot.

There are only 2 markings that I can see. One is a 13 on the lid and the handle has 13IN on it. I got the electrolysis tank out I made a few years ago and I'm going to clean it up. Sometimes cleaning up cast iron cookware can reveal more markings.

I'll post some after pics when I get through.

It is always when we need to use our angle grinder that we realize that it is our last disc and/or that we are out of spare ones. (I just had to go buy some this afternoon.)

Love your posts with the photos. I wish I had a reason to own such a great iron skillet. Hey when you get it cleaned and re-seasoned cook up something good and take a photo. 73, Mike

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Not much to report on here....still picking up PC's but can't get to them because the garage is full of Christmas decorations from the attic. I did get the cast iron skillet cleaned but it's not seasoned completely. That tends to smoke up the kitchen and my wife wasn't having it. I told her to pick a day cause it gonna happen.
Anywho, Christmas times a coming and I need to hit a couple of scrapyards. See yall next year.

Banned from cooking in the house or on the deck because I burned our house down deep fat frying a turkey 21 years ago on the deck. Wind is not a friend in SD or WY.

It is possible to season cast iron on a grill using the outside burners out in the yard. This is provided just in case your wife is as stubborn as mine. Once you season it, use it regularly and you will never have to season it again. My favorite dish is ham, pineapple, cherries, and beer cooked in a pit. In hunting camp we would set this up before sunrise and it was perfect at sunset.

For the record I am still able to use the microwave. Our grill is located 25 ft. from the house. Otherwise cooking is limited to milk can meals and cast iron cooked in my pit, 25 yds. from the house.
Give back more to this world than we take.

    A blast from the past.
I installed a phone system in a hotel 12 years ago and this is what they used to get internet into the guest rooms. It can handle 144 rooms and what it does is apply a signal (DSL?) to an analog station from the phone system and then is connected to the guest room. In the guest room there is a box that separates the analog phone extension and the internet. They had already thrown the boxes from the rooms in the trash. There was also a big battery backup. I'm interested to see what kind of cards are inside.

I haven't been here much lately, but I'm still at it. Sent a box off a few weeks ago and had the garage nice and clean, which didn't last long. Got a call from one of my regulars and I have more ready to ship as soon as I get some pricing info back. This load had what I thought were thin clients but they turned out to be Optiplex 5060's. All had different components missing except 1. I think I'll keep it as a spare because the PC I usually use is giving me problems.
Has anyone ever used a 5060 before? This one has an 8th gen processor (i5 8500t) and 2 sticks of 8 gig memory.

You never know what you'll run into. If you can ... you might go into the BIOS and enable UEFI secure boot & TPM before you install the operating system. That way it would be eligible for the Win 11 upgrade when the time comes around.

That was something i missed earlier this year. A Cyberpower w/ AMD Ryzen 5 2600 , 8 gb ddr 4 ram, & high end video card came into the shop. Ditched the traditional hard drive for an SSD and then installed the OS. It's more machine than i really need for my purposes but it's fairly current as far as technology goes. Should last for awhile if i can keep updating the OS.

The thing is that it won't seem to let me enable TPM & secure boot. Best guess is that it should have been done before installing the new SSD & OS.

besides scrapping it for the copper, is there anything else that can be done with these toroidal transformers? I got one from a friend, it's not huge, but it looks like something I would want to incorporate into a DIY build instead of scrap it.

I was going to add some of my own photos instead of creating a whole new thread (hope that's ok), but my upload size is limited to 200 bytes. Anyone know why?

I have a question about the battery, I wanted to look for the battery in junkyards and I promise to go to them, which I found now, I will post the link. https://bestsalvageyards.com. But maybe you know if it's worth buying there, and maybe you have a better suggestion about the junkyards and how to do it better? I am waiting for your answer and suggestion.

Lost a contact and gained a contact.

I had been receiving computer scrap from this one guy for about 12 years until he past away last year. He was a super nice guy and I hate he is gone.

I recently received a call from the person who took his place wanting to know if I still picked up ewaste. Yes sir I do! I still haven't sorted through everything but I did get 35 PC's, 30 laptops and boxes and boxes of cables and power cords. My truck was squatting and it was a slow ride home.

I also received the 2 boxes of hard drives the other guy would never let me have. They are old drives with the big boards on them. I haven't seen those for a while now.

Anyhoo, posting a pic of the boards and hoping everyone has a great weekend.

    Back from vacation.

I was going to post some pics but it's still showing an error. It says 333.77 MB of 7.42 MB Used. Okay I guess I have exceeded my limit by 326.35 MB.

    HA!

Looks like I need to check out Imgur or some other alternatives.

What are some of you using to post pics?
