The first one was a freebie... Go to ebay and look up what those models sold for.

With that information , you can only offer scrap price for the lot or you will lose $ .

No because the parts have no resale value , no demand means your going to scrap them all . I did not research your list , I'm suggesting my advice based on your internet research . What ever you do don't get gold fever , there is tons of outdated equipment out there waiting for you . Good luck

If you don't KNOW you can resell buy as if you are going to scrap them. Unless you open and inspect each one ASSUME they are missing things, ram, hard drive. Unless you test them before you buy you should ASSUME none of them work.

Be certain you can make money before you buy. Best of luck, Mike.

ps I just restated what Metalbestos said, I hope you get that I consider this important for you. M

Look, Jdscrapz. You seem to have good intentions. But you need to understand something.

You came into OUR forum, without an intro, and are asking tons of questions rapid fire. I like the enthusiasm, But the long time forum members get annoyed when people ask without doing research. Every question you have, has been answered multiple times on this forum. I PROMISE! They will welcome you more easily if you do some of the work yourself. Everyone here that has become successful at scrapping earned it on their own. So they want you to earn it too. get it? not trying to be harsh, just real. If you spent hundreds of hours researching something, You wouldn't want some new guy getting it for free right? But the beauty is, it is all here, and it is free! Use the search function. Spend some time reading and earn the respect of the forum members, it will only help your business.

From my experience servers vary rarely sell whole, you may be able to if your willing to sit on them for awhile. But the parts market is very active. Being in IT, I very rarely look for replacement parts or replacement servers on Ebay. So trying to get an accurate price from Ebay may not be a good avenue. But a simple Google search for the servers with the word replacement parts, should get you websites that deal with the these servers. Contact them, some of them may buy your servers whole, and give you more than scrap value. That should get you a starting price. I personally don't pay for e-waste, I get more than I can keep up with

My answer still stands. I usualy pay $5 per U in size of server. dont need a scale then and you dont have to take it out of the rack. Just add up the U sizes and pay the man. I top out at $20 a unit for the 4U and bigger stuff. Havnt lost money yet doing i this way.

I have run across both types of customers........Some want a price per piece while others prefer to have their items weighed.......You and I both have probably done enough of this by now we know the basic yields and are able to shoot from the hip a little on pricing.......For a newbie I suggest to weigh the material until they get a grasp of what this stuff can actually be worth
