Best way to strip thick wire like this?

Just got a bunch of Aluminum wire. I called one of the scrap yards around here and they're offering .10 / lb with the insulation and .70 / lb without. So I think it's definitely better to just strip it all. Better yet, if anyone is around my area would you like to make me an offer on this?

It looks like it would be a bear to strip.

I would strip it if that's all you got Aluminium wise.

cut off one lb. weigh it strip it and weigh it again , then decide if it is worth stripping.

Alright, going to cut 1lb and strip it. See what it weighs.

I just used up the last of my discs an hr or so ago. Cut those pipes I posted about a few days ago. Took two entire discs to get through one pipe. Then I had to lift each 250lb section into my truck and drive home to unload it and cut it up more. I thought about using the grinder on the jacket earlier too but at the time I only had a thick disc. Thanks for letting me know it works.

i used i utilitly knife to strip some that i had. def not worth it. im assuming the grinder will be alot easier.

.10?....we get .50 lb here...thats tri plex ya have...the bare stuff has a steel strand in the center and it only returns 66%

So how does it work? Tighten the wire in and pull allowing the top to strip it?

That tool could be improved even a little bit more. If there was a motor on the other end that clamped onto the wire and pulled it through automatically.

lol, not even close. I did one yesterday. They're 500 lbs and the guy that told me to get them has them in the middle of the woods which is bogged down in mud right now. I used an angle grinder yesterday with a generator and it took me just under an hour to cut in half to get in my truck. There was like a concrete lining that destroyed my discs. I'm also going to wait for the guy to respond to my email so I can get a letter or something in case someone thinks I'm back there causing trouble.

Have you showed your yard a sample of the pipe yet?
