    Reltec Protector Modules

Ended up with a box of about 100 Reltec (5 pin)protector modules. I broke one down to see what was inside. The pins look gold plated and the cylinders are magnetic. Can anyone give me any more information? Didn't have much luck googling them. Thanks

Also have plastic boxes they plug into.

I am pretty sure we found the boxes they plug into in another box. Must be from a phone system. Looks like 100 pair line coming into each box.

The deeper we get into this the stranger it becomes. The 100 pair wires going to the box appear to be Aluminum? Definately not copper. The shielding around the 100 pairs is gold colored on the outside and silver on the inside. Kind of looks like tin can pattern. Any help? Thanks

Those are used in the telephone industry for lightening protection in the central office location.

Does someone know if the pins are gold plated?

I would also like to know if the insides are worth any more then shred.
