    Transformers and more

HI all, went dumpster shopping yesterday and found 5, 220 to 110v transformers. If anyone here was in the military in Germany, you know what I am talking about. 2 were 750 watt, and the other 3 were 1600 watt. no, cant resell them, the wiring was fried.

Also found 2 SS exaust systems, and 10 monitor stands, all cast aluminum.

    Im off to the scrapyard,

    jassiejames

Great dumpster finds. So have you been able to do any ewaste recycling over there? I would think the Euro chips would be great to see in a photo. Mike.

Wow, been a while since I have heard about them. Spent 5 1/2 years in Germany when my dad was in the Army. Had to plug those in the wall, then plug your 110 appliances into the tranformer.

Americans still use them.. I use one but only for my waffle iron, too lazy to buy a german one....

Miked, what do you mean by Euro Chips??

I pulled over 6 pounds of copper out of each 1600 watt transformer.

I was trying to be a little funny. I was referring to cpu's in computers. I figure some of the computers in EU have different cpu's than we find here in the U.S. So do you do any ewaste recycling? Mike.

I am just getting into the escrap thing, I have maybe 20 computers under my belt now. As for chips, Its all made in taiwan....... nothing special about German cpu`s it either AMD or Pentium, worldwide. Only thing odd i have seen is motherboards from Siemens, they are usually blue or purple.

Here is a funny, Someone in my town pulls only the cpu's from curbed computers, but leaves everything else. I guess everyone has a different value system.

Exactly, prices here are about the same for most everything. Found a company that buys e waste through the mail, will try them out soon and evaluate the prices in Euro`s compared to dollars, it all depends on the exchange rate.
