    Battery sale day tomorrow

Got this shipment ready to go tomorrow. Exide sends a truck when I've gotten enough - usually at least 144, but this one's a little short. I usually ship twice a year - April and October. Nov '09 was 353 and last April was 172. This one is 114. There are several factors in why I'm getting fewer, but mainly a local auto parts store got one of my customers by paying him State core charge for whatever he came up with. Core charge is $10 which is more than I get. I wonder what the Maine tax payers would say about subsidizing an auto parts business. Not kosher by any stretch of the imagination, but accomplished their goal of trying to drive me out of the battery business. Not going to happen. Anyway, the Spring shipment usually pays my taxes and vehicle insurance and the Fall shipment is:

    Merry Christmas

People may laugh at me, but that's ok. I laugh all the way to the bank.

I get alot of batteries from scraping cars and also have been buying them from a semi repair shop. How do you get started selling to them? do you need to sell a certain amount to them every year? Also if u don't mind me asking how much do they give you for a car battery? thanks Aaron

Lookup my post in the "Tricks Of The Trade" section. It's real easy or at least it was for me. I aimed someone I know in that direction in PA but I guess somebody else had just signed with Exide in that area. They don't want to have their truck running all over an area. What I get depends on the market, but it's generally about double what the scrap yard pays because we're both selling to the same buyer (the manufacturer/rebuilder).

Well, wound up being 108 Class A (car & light truck), six Class L&G (Lawn & Garden) and one Class D (motorcycle) batteries. "Rated" weight was 3450 lbs.

Great. What was your investment into the batteries?

$275.50 for this shipment. Expecting approx $970. Won't have exact figure until he weighs the load so I'll find out when the check gets here in six weeks. I'd sent a shipment last April that I had $668.5 into and got a check for $1680. Better return than the bank, anyway.

Payday came two days early. My estimate was pretty close - $971.25 for what's in the picture and detailed above.
