Getting paid in beer to remove some metal furniture

I guess it's a nice perk for doing someone a favor: In my neighborhood recently I took away some old, beat up aluminum lawn furniture for someone, and even though I was gonna take it off his hands for free, he paid/tipped me in 2 cans of Bud and 2 cans of Natural Light even though I didn't ask for it. Anyone looking to score free beer now knows what to do: Barter, I take your unwanted metal junk in exchange for beer LOL...

    I have never been a "professional" drinker, but I know a few,lol...

I like free beer, soda, meat and all the FREE things that people will give me when I help them out a bit.

I view Life as a adventure in learning and growing so I never quite know where I will be, what I will be doing and who I might visit with as I try and go with the flow that is right for me.

I have many times did a small fix it job when I was out and about as I had the tools and knowledge to fix a loose hinge or such that I would notice needed repair. These type of fix it jobs are just things that I notice that are in need of a small repair and I will do it most times without being asked if I'm just waiting around for someone or something.

Most times these people will want to pay me something even tho that isn't why I fixed the problem. So when people get a looking for things they figure they can do without I end up with a load sometimes out of the blue.

Strike while the iron is hot and reap the free bonuses that may find you.

Talking of beer. I bought a case of the Coors Golden Banquet beer in the stubby bottles and I would rather drink Fosters in a can but they raised the cost by a dollar a can from $1.59 so I quit buying it. The Coors is not bad beer and I would be more then pleased with a couple of free ones or so if someone handed them my way, but I don't think I will buy it again unless it's on sale.

With all the fast brewing methods and less quality ingredients they are using these DAZE you never know what the quality of our food and consumer goods will be.

FREE BEER is fine and dandy with me.

There used to be an actor named James Whitmore (I think?). Pres Harry Truman died in 1972 at the age of 88 and Whitmore came out with a one-man stage show about Truman shortly there after called, Give 'em Hell, Harry!. My folks used to have the record and I listened to it in late elementary and junior high time frame. I don't know if this dialogue was actually said by Truman but it sounds about right. I can't remember the exact context that this was said in the play but it probably holds up for a lot of things, and not just beer.

Truman was talking to an older black gentlemen in Independence, MO or some place close by and the gentleman was having a libation from a bottle. The whiskey had been given to him by his boss who was white (this was during segregation days).

    Truman asks, "How's that whiskey?"
    Old man, "Just about right."
    Truman, "How so?"
Old man, "If it was any better boss wouldn't have given it to me and if it was any worse, I wouldn't have drank it"

    I rest my case...

Well, aside from the above mentioned variety, the best kind of beer is cold. Hard to turn down a free one even if it's not your brand of choice.

I think the beers 50% of it and the other 50% is who you drink it with.

Good thing that I read this thread as I was mostly daydreaming of getting out in the woods and reopening a pathway that goes to my gravel pit where I have been doing some things as I have a couple school buses and a VW vanawagon that I have been sorting through seeing what there is as the stuff has been sitting for years.

Still daydreaming, but I now have a nice cold Bud long neck beer before me. I'm not pleased with the quality of our consumer goods these daze as the quality control went out long ago with the wasteful throw away society.

BUT on a GOOD note, that WA$TEFUL society at large makes for some great FREE and bargain priced pickins for the modern day rag picker and frugal entrepreneur.

a few bottles of Bud in the cooler

    a few bottles of bud

if one was grabbed as the fingers gabbed

one less bottle of Bud in the cooler.

and may the farce be with you

OH NO as mister bill would say?

another bottle of bud in unopened cold sweating condition sits before me.

should I list it on Craigslist with a offer for a romantic Sterno lit dinner for that lucky single gal?

or should I crack it open and make sure that she might enjoy it with a couple of straws in it?

choices choices, what to do in such a busy world?

where is my lucky eight ball when I need it?
