This new yard I'm going to is only giving .19/lb

I'm going to try something new, I'm going to make a sign and attach it to the tailgate of my truck(yes, I kept it) stating that I will buy old car, truck, and boat batteries for $6.00 each. My house is real close to a heavily traveled county road, and it's easy to see the truck from the road. Also this is a lake area around here with 8 or 9 lakes close by and the lake people are getting their boats, pontoons, and houses ready for summer. We are around 15 miles from the scrap yard and I can't see them running into the yard for only one or two batteries, when they can get $6 each for something laying around, getting in their way. It's worth a try, and if I get a load the truck can pay for itself hauling them in. My last battery paid $11.75. What do you think,,?

Just keep an eye on that price that the yrd pays. It can flip on you in a heart beat. Anyone who bought silver a week ago and still has it, just lost 25% in one weeks time. I don't see lead flipping that fast, but sometimes it will. I am hoping oil would flip that fast.

Good point Mick, my last battery was .28 cents a pound but like you said, it can change in a hurry. Hopefully there will be some marine batteries available as the lake people replace their batteries in their boats and pontoons. I know some take them in for the core charge but a few people don't like getting their hands dirty,, lol

Don't we all,,,?? The only way I see it flipping is up. We're at 4.29 right now, whew!

Oil just dropped like a rock today and silver went down even more. Gold and the other PMs came right with it all.

There is the headline. It dropped more than $10 per barrel today to land below $100. Prices at the pimp should ease a bit and drop in a mon th if the prices stay down.

Have 60 batteries in the pickup to go in in the morning. $10 each, or .30/lb, whichever is higher.

I'd say the .30/lb will be higher,, on an average battery.

60 batteries were 2340#, so $.30/lb.= $702

Cha-ching, good job. how long did it take you to acquire that many batteries? And were they commercial or residential? I'm just curious, Like my cat.

About 3 months. Commercial or residential....I don't follow. Auto, marine, truck & tractor batteries.

I believe he was asking if you picked them up from residential, or if you have commercial accounts.
