    DevinTheScrapper's Thread

I decided since I am getting a lot more scrap than before and I am turning 16 soon and will be driving and getting 10x more I will make a thread like many other people do. So here's my first couple pics.

This is a picture of the first 3 A/C units that I will be receiving. I just got news they are all different types and they are all drained of freon as I said in a previous thread. There is going to be probably 12 units total. Also a picture of my shelves I just built for some temp bucket storage.

Thats a lead acid battery. You can tell because it says "Pb" on it, the symbol for lead. They go in the same catagory as car batteries.

Hay he's working, so he can pick up the extras (gas, insurance, dings) that most parents dread.
Wish I knew about this stuff at his age. Would of loved doing this over the burger flipping I did, till midnight, after a day at school, walking 12 miles up hill, in the snow, with rocks on my back, ok i went a little to far but you get it.

Good on ya man, looking forward to future scores!

Camera broke in the middle of a/c unit breakdown pics, but I have some below.

Got all 9 of the condensor units and pulled all the stuff out so heres the breakdown:

3 buckets of copper tubing & coil ends (5 gal)

    9 Compressors

    3 Copper / AL coils

    6 AL Only coils

    9 Fan motors

Truckload of steel cases & mesh & bases from the units.

The coils were bringing around $7.50 a piece for the coppers ones I believe... I don't know the per/lb they pay

Was suprised to see aluminum coils (they give me clean AL price for those)

I only took in a little bit from the first 3 units I broke down, I will post pictures of it all and a price list once I turn it all in so I can figure out how much I got per unit.

Got some more small scores I will post more pics soon

    20 lbs of romex

2 Huge wash tubs, going to keep these for storing

a basketball hoop from my neighbor

an aluminum screendoor from my neighbor

25-30 lbs of 11-12 Gauge wire, Stripped it already with my new wire stripper

1,000's of nails, brand new 50lb boxes of nails and joist bridging, joist hangers, random nails tons of galvanized nails, roofing nails. It is all very old but I think I can get some $ for it before I scrap it, I am keeping a jar full of each nail but I have no use for all of the ones I have....

Also got 3 shop-vac motors 1 is mine and the other 2 I got out of my grandpas old garage along with the other stuff above.

Got a nice file cabinet also.

Here are some of the pictures I have... I don't have many of the ac stuff, but the strung out coils are the al only ones, the solid are the copper.

Brand New Business cards in the pics somewhere

You might sell the extra nails, bolts, etc. on Craigslist for a little above scrap value.

Nice cards and nice piles of stuff. That's about the most organized, cleanest large pile of nails I've ever seen!

Haven't posted for a while I keep forgetting to take pics of my load but I just got a call the other day from my grandpas friend and he said hes got a little bit of metal for me so heres what I picked up.... and since I am only 15 and cannot drive I can't curbshop but I actually saw some stuff on the way home so we stopped and grabbed it. Came out with a new gas station lighter tray, 2 metal shelves from someones trash. Who would buy the lighter tray? Also the rest there is... 1 a/c unit (freon is drained) 1 monitor, 1 desktop computer, 50-75Lbs of scrap iron and steel from welding, an old table/cart thing, a dartboard that I cannot get the power cord to work on, And also there is my new chainsaw I just bought I thought I'd include that pic., Also a roll of chicken wire, some misc steel, and 2 bikes I got from my friends house that are broke. Also got a golf bag caddy and some other junk from them. Heres the pics >

Also my parents decided they are going to get a natural gas heater for the garage so thats a bonus for the winter, I will post pics when we buy it and install it.

Must have understanding folks to let you pile your stuff up!! I wish the wifey was a bit more understanding. Then again, if I actually organized stuff maybe she'd lay off...

P.S. In South Dakota, a kid can get a Learner's Driving permit when they're 14 (adult has to be with them). At 15, they can get a Restricted driving license (only driving between 7 and 7). At 16, they can get a full fledged driver's license.

My parents are used to it, I've been woodworking since I was a little kid and scrapping for a few years, as for the big stuff I have my grandmas detached garage as my main storage, which is nice since she never uses it.

SCORE. Just got a hit on upwards of 100lbs of wire from one of my dads jobsites. Will be picking it up tonight and bagging it. I'll post pics and weight after I strip it all.
