Love the old trucks and childhood dream you just reminded me about pianos. It was worth taking them. Wow sounds neat never thought about the wood too. Very very cool. Aaron at Stillwater.

I'm very good at what I do as it has been a part of me all my Life. I really like the 70's Int trucks as they are a poor mans Land Rover. The INT might even be a bit more cool in it's own ways. Mine is not only the 4 door, but also the 4 wheel drive. It has the 8 bolt rims so rims and tire sizes can be picked by choice, it just throws the spedo off when you start changing tire height. Most times it's best to go with what is original. I talk of the rims and tires as there are none on the INT at this time. It's sitting up on cement blocks on the hill. I do like that truck for what it is. I had a 67 4x4 dodge power wagon crew cab that was a cool truck. I let a "friend" I knew buy/lease in a way it at a very reasonable price as he needed a good truck for his business. I didn't want to part with it but he begged and promised and such. He was to sell it back to me when he didn't require it anymore and he decided that it was worth more and sold it to the highest bidder. He did end up doing a short stretch in the big house later over drugs and the fancy life. He got caught up in a police sting/set up. It was the young college girls and nose candy that was his downfall. Maybe if he would of sold me the truck back a few years before that he wouldn't of went the path that he did? Maybe not, don't matter much.
Another nice light truck I had was a 1958 Ford 1 ton with a factory brush guard from 1958 and it had the original round dial radio in it. Was a old Air Force truck out of the Dakotas. I bought it for $200.00 from a guy that needed the beer & cigarette money basically and he liked me. He made the offer and I said yes. I sold that to a guy that had to have it. It was a very cool old truck, but I can't keep and have them all. I have had many interesting vehicles over the years. I still have a few around the yard. A old 50's METRO postal truck that ran when parked.
I took a look on eBay Motors at Internationals and they sure do bring good money and there are not many of them. I haven't found many around over the years. They are a rare vehicle class.
As for the pianos. Some of the brass and iron harps were very decorative and brought far more then scrap price, I don't think any of the ones I had ended up scrapped as I sold them to those that wanted them for their looks. The more decorative they were the more they brought. And the piano strings have many uses and are very salable. Most of the older uprights had real ivory covered keys and some were thicker then others depending on the piano. Then there were the 3 brass peddles. The piano hinges and other parts and such. some pianos were very decorative in the wood work. Many times it was carved wood parts that could be taken off and used else wheres. Some would have damage to the bottom of the piano's wood, but the rest was fine. The real fancy ones would be made into bars and other cabinets by others. I would end up with a few piano stools and benches also. But not many as people would keep those.
When you think about WHY MANY people that had those old uprights decided to get rid of them, you wonder just what the programing was that caused so many to follow a trend.
That is what I watch for the trends and fads.
If any that are reading this want to get in on the trend/fad of the future. It's the steampunk and electrified steampunk concept.
I plan on doing well as I have plenty of what fits the steampunk bill and I know how to make interesting things also.
Back to cool and interesting work trucks. There are a few interesting ambulance designs other then the cube van style. I just about bought one years back that was from Sweden or something. It was more like a motor home with all sorts of compartments with doors on the sides. I thought it would make a great flea market vehicle. I decided against it as it needed some expensive repairs or Frankenstein drive train replacement. The body was perfect. Asking price? $4000.00 with real nice tires and it had a fancy camera system and other features. Had a tiny bathroom in it also, sort of like on a bus or airplane.
Old fire trucks are cool work trucks also. If you want to stand out from the crowd, go vintage unless you have the BIG bucks for the spendy trucks.
Anything with one paint color and complete panels. Spot painting and rust gaps take it off the fancy list.
That is one sharp 1960's truck. There are a few things that I'm not the biggest fan of, but I bet that truck will turn heads, and bring a large smile to the owner's face. That's worth it to me!
