Television Picture Tubes

I looked up Cesium alloy & i can't seem to find any one knocking down doors for it, I suspect it's one of those alloys that once created it's only way back is as SS or AL. Since i take TV's apart I think for fun I will start to save that little guy from now on. What ya got to loose!! Pure Cesium is a hazard and pure Cesium melts at 82 degrees or so

mmmm.... Cesium... Do a google search for cesium and water. I remember that from high school chemistry.

Lol my yard has taken a rear projection tube from me before, I had forgotten to remove it before leaving, they just picked it up and tossed it in their pile..

Also once a huge flat screen tv...

Nope TV's are a complete no-go & the longer they know you the harder they will be on you if you get caught.

I had and have TV to dispose of. I found that some good wil's take them for free.

Good will is one thrift store that won't take tv's or monitors working or not.

The steel mesh in crts is worth money if you have a shipping container of it.....
It has a very low expension rate thru a range of tempatures. They use it as the two metal leads going thru glass lightbulbs.. etc.
Also, the thin glass rods on the stainless steel raygun are used by glass blowers in their art.

Thats all thats valuable inside a crt tube.

So, unless you have a way of getting rid of tons of crt glass, its not worth it....

I used to do it when I was slow and I still do it a little sometimes when I'm slow. I smash the glass and it's easier to dispose of when I put it in buckets, also the metal in side and the bAnd around is thick. There's a screen inside also, it's about 4-12lbs depending on the tv. Also there's lost of nasty particles inside so be careful and wear a respirator and gloves

Can you dispose of them that way where you live? By me the tubes can still go the trash and I am sure they break when at the dump. Not sure I would want to smash them up for the little bit of metal. Laws are different in each state make sure you know yours...
